SmartSat CRC is a consortium of universities and other research organizations, partnered with industry that has been funded by the Australian Government to develop know-how and technologies in advanced telecommunications and IoT connectivity.
In June of 2022, it was announced that EOS Space Systems became a core partner for the SmartSat CRC – becoming the 20th core partner alongside leading universities and global corporations such as Airbus, BAE Systems and Nova Systems. An objective of the partnership is to build integrated hybrid Optical-RF tactical terminals combining radio frequency and optical frequency communications capabilities into a single compact terminal by 2023. The project is referred to as Project CHORUS.
